Ways To Increase The Battery Life Of A Netbook

One thing that most people want on a netbook is good battery life. These devices are designed to be portable so having better battery life makes sense. Learn a few ways that you can get your battery life to last quite a bit longer than it is right now.

The first thing that you need to do is unplug additional hardware. This means not leaving your USB flash drive or other hardware plugged in while you are using the netbook on battery power. These devices will draw a bit of power away the whole time they are plugged in. Get a bigger battery for your device. For most netbooks upgrading to a larger battery is not that much of an expense and can add in many hours of extra battery for you to use.

Don't multitask as much. If you run limited applications, you will be using less of your computer's resources therefore using less overall power. Dim the screen down to a lower level than needed. The screen itself can use quite a bit of power and the lower setting will make the battery last longer.

Increase the RAM in your netbook. This will not only make it run faster, but it is also easier on your battery. Turn off things like bluetooth if you are not using it. Also if you aren't connected to wifi, turn it off as this uses tons of power.

Make sure your netbook isn't running any applications in the background that it doesn't need to be running. Many times there are applications running all the time that can be turned off. If listening to music or watching something, use headphones. This will use less power than your netbook's speakers.

Clean the battery contacts on your netbook. When these are cleaner, you will get more efficient power out of your netbook.

Most people would like their netbook to have good battery life. Learn a few things that you can do that will increase your battery life.
