William Henry Gates III (born in Seattle, Washington, October 28, 1955, age 54 years), better known as Bill Gates, is the founder (with Paul Allen) and a general chairman of U.S. software company, Microsoft. He was also a philanthropist through its activities in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He occupied the first position in the richest people in the world version of Forbes magazine for 13 years (1995 to 2007), but since March 5, 2008 in the third position after the U.S. businessman Warren Buffett and Mexican businessman Carlos Slim.
